Chapter Twelve

Sasha

As much as Sasha disapproved of Bailey spending so much time at Molly’s, she had to admit that it was glorious to have the house to herself on the weekends she was there. No Angela underfoot chasing a bored Bailey while Sasha tried to have a relaxing Saturday. No waking up early on Sunday with Bailey demanding Donny’s attention. This morning, she moved closer to Donny, pressing her body against his until he began to rouse and respond to her caresses.

“Good morning,” he whispered, flipping around to face her and put his arms around her. “This is nice.”

It had been almost two weeks since they’d last made love, and Sasha needed to fix that. Usually, she was vigilant about keeping him satisfied—after all, there were plenty of women who’d love the chance—but lately she’d been too stressed to make the effort. He was a good lover, thoughtful and energetic, but after almost eight years together, the excitement was gone. Sasha was all about the chase, and she already had Donny firmly in her grip. But as her mother had always reminded her, if you don’t pay attention to your man, someone else will. So she pretended it was years ago, back when she’d set her sights on him and went to extraordinary measures to entice him away from his wife. Pushing him down, she straddled him and put her lips on his, teasing him with her tongue. She’d already brushed her teeth and gargled. He hadn’t, but that was okay; she wasn’t going to be up here for long.

“Lie back and relax, lover boy,” she said as she slid down. She knew most wives didn’t bother with this anymore, but she wasn’t stupid. Men loved it, and it was a small price to pay to ensure that her husband wasn’t tempted to look elsewhere. When she’d finished, she curled up next to him, her head on his chest, and closed her eyes.

“I love you, babe,” he whispered as he drifted back to sleep.

They were up and showered a few hours later, on their way to brunch at Perch. Donny was in a good mood, naturally, and couldn’t stop smiling at her all morning. He was a regular there, and they were seated immediately despite the line of waiting diners. She loved the view from the rooftop at Perch. Sitting up here and surveying Los Angeles, she always felt as though she’d finally arrived. It was a gorgeous day, sun shining brightly with just enough of a breeze to cool the heat of the sun.

“Bellinis or mimosas?” Donny asked.

“Bellinis. But tell them to make it with Dom,” she said, looking around to see who was around.

“Of course. The usual for brunch?”

Donny ordered them the fruit plate and avocado toast. When their drinks arrived, he raised his glass to Sasha.

“To my sexy wife.” He grinned at her.

“Right back atcha,” she said and took a long sip. She sat up straight and smoothed her hair as Ian Johns, Hollywood’s newest heartthrob, stopped at their table.
